Miami is expected to hire Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

The Miami Hurricanes have their defensive coordinator. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman will be taking the same position with the Canes.

In games against FBS opponents, Minnesota finished 10th nationally in scoring defense (18.3 PPG), 14th in yards per play (4.7) and 19th in yards per pass attempt against (6.3).

Like Mario Cristobal, the 44-year-old Hetherman comes from the Greg Schiano coaching tree, having coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.

Hetherman had tremendous success at the FCS level. In 2021, he was named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year after coordinating James Madison's No. 2-ranked defense in the nation. He also served as Maine's defensive coordinator from 2016-18, leading the FCS in rushing defense, interceptions and fumble recoveries in his final season.

Hetherman is a Massachusetts native who played quarterback at Fichburg State from 2003-06.

Well, Wikipedia is wrong. Cignetti has been at Indian for one season. Hetherman has been at both Minnesota and Rutgers, so he left at least one year before Cignetti, maybe two.

Just the thought of our D actually playing...am I allowed to say it...intelligently...

The thought that our guys will be fundamentally sound in tackling and shedding blocks, etc.

The O is set and now the D is getting there. Give him a vet MLB from the portal and let's go scare people like in ye olden days.
