CanesInSight - Lorenzo Lingard and Todd Gurley

    Questions for site ownership here-img_0444-jpg

I've heard several people make this comparison. After doing some digging, the similarities are striking. Below are their junior PR track times. Keep in mind that Lingard just started track season and can improve these numbers:

    Lorenzo Lingard- 6'1, 190

    100m- 10.7
    200m- 21.94
    60m hurdles- 8.76
    110m hurdles- 14.14
    300m hurdles- 38.80

    Todd Gurley- 6'1, 195

    100m- 10.7
    200- 22.85
    60m hurdles- 8.54
    110m hurdles- 13.88
    300m hurdles- 40.89

Gurley was a world-class 60m and 110m hurdler, but Lingard looks as good or better in the other events.

When I went back and watched Gurley's high school film, the comparison becomes obvious. They even play in similar offenses.

If he can become half of what Todd was at the college level we all will be very happy

Love the comparison. Not sure where you got the 60m time for Lo but trust he would probably run closer to 8 flat if he ran them today. I'm assuming he doesn't do indoor so that time might be from a while ago. To be fair same could probably be said for Gurley too. Just projecting based on the 110 times.

Why are setting the bar so low? Last time I checked, Miami has produced some pretty bad ass RB. I will be happy if he plays like a 5 star top 20 player and won't settle for less.

Lo is 5lb's smaller, and has a slower start than Gurley. This is evident by the difference in 300m hurdles compared to 60m hurdles, and 100m sprint compared to 200m. His top speed is faster than Gurley, and once he gets going he doesn't lose much speed when making movements. I could see him hitting a bunch of home runs on plays where we give him some time to crank up the speed before saying "run home"

Gurley was heavier than 195 in high school. He was somewhere between 210 and 215.

You can filter by year here
Todd Gurley, Los Angeles RB - Scout

247 has him at 209 in HS
      Todd Gurley, Tarboro, Running Back

cfbstats has him at 218 his freshman year
      cfbstats.com - 2012 Georgia Bulldogs Roster

Lingard has time to add good weight. I would like to see him enter Miami around 210.
