Irvin sets Miami as final official visit

Westminster Christian defensive back Tim Irvin is one of the main high-profile recruits that Miami is pursuing at this point of the process. The 5-9, 185-pound athlete has been on the map for about three years now and the process is finally coming to an end.

“The recruiting process has been a pleasure and a humbling experience. It’s a wonderful blessing talking to coaching and being recruited by all these schools.”

Irvin says he has narrowed it to four, in no particular order. Miami, Texas, WVU, and UF.

Texas – “The environment is really different out there with the players and coaches so that’s a key.”

West Virginia – “When I went up there, the coaches and players showed me a lot of love so that was a great experience.”

Florida – “That’s a great program. Obviously Coach Muschamp and T-Rob were recruiting me and Muschamp got fired, but it was a great official visit and I had fun with the players and coaches.”

Miami went in-home with Irvin on Monday night with his parents also in attendance. Al Golden, Mark D’Onofrio, Hurlie Brown, and Paul Williams were able to convince Irvin to take his official to Miami next weekend.

“What most caught my attention is how they told me that an official visit is different than an unofficial visit so I changed my mind up and I will be taking an official on December 12th,” said Irvin.

The playmaking defensive back also added that Miami would most likely be his final visit.

The Miami Head Coach made it clear that Irvin would have a role from day one.

“It was a big key for me and my parents when Coach Golden told me I could be an impact player as a freshman. I really liked that.”

The Canes also caught Irvin’s attention by making Irvin the first recruit that they visited.

“It meant a lot that they were at my school at 7 A.M. because it shows they care a lot about me.”

A major factor working in Miami’s favor is Irvin’s relationship with Killian safety JaQuan Johnson.

“Me and JaQuan talk almost everyday and he’s like my best friend. We’ve had a great bond and chemistry since Pop Warner so the gameplan would be crazy with us at the next level together.”

The Westminster Christian legend is also optimistic about the future of Miami’s program, citing youth as the reason for the team’s struggles this season.

“If they get the kids they want, then everything will turn around. They are a young team and I feel like they will be great in a couple years.”

Irvin will be an early enrollee and plans to announce his commitment at the Army All-American game.

Great news. Really sounds like we have the edge. WVU kind of scares me but i dont see him wanting to live there for the next 4 years.

Going to be a tough pull but if T-rob goes to Auburn with Muschanp we could have a legit shot

Thanks, Peter. Nice to see some positive news here!

texas has a great campus. dont sleep on them.

I wouldnt either. Add the fact that Charlie Strong can really coach defense - and you have yourselves a serious contender

He just sounded like Florida was out of the question, WVU i doubt he wants to live there, Texas he said it was key for him, Strong is there so ya they are about my only fear. Kinda feel like him saying he didnt know the difference in an official and unofficial like Golden had to talk him into getting a last impression with an official or something because he had his mind made up already or something

I wonder how much he actually believes that and how much of it is interview talk.

Why on earth would he choose WVU over Miami, UF, or Texas. Makes absolutely no sense.
Hope he comes here though, I loved his Junior tape.

Texas last year wouldn't be a threat, but with strong they r a threat. ul recruiting sfla will die and Texas will try to make inroads

Im currently in Ft Hood, Texas...and I go to Austin sometimes and 6th street is Party Central with Bars on every corner and the Campus is great and the women are gorgeous....

Sounds like Jaquan's giving us a slight edge. Charlie Strong scares me,bc he could turn Tim into a murderer

golden vs strong its not even a question golden will chew strong up and spit him up when it comes to recruiting strong wont last another 2 years he was horrible this year and they wont let his black *** coach there too long and infest that program with mediocrity
