How Many Days Until Canes Football? A Historical Countdown

Canes Legacy

We understand with everything going on in the world that this may not be accurate. However, we’re going to take the optimistic approach. Plus, it gives us a chance to go down memory lane and remember some great performances.

Another for today. Thought this was an interesting one because so many people forget how clutch Larry Jones was for us in that game. McGuire was a force of nature when he was healthy, especially in big games, so Jones stepping up in the biggest spot possible can’t be understated. Crazy that it was his only real shot and ultimately his only 100 yard game.

One of the best Canes ever! Loved that '91 team.

So many returners try to be Devin Hester but don’t understand what made him so great. They try to run sideline to sideline and make a thousand cuts, but that only works if the whole coverage unit screws up.

Devin was so instinctual, and someone in the thread about guys who could play other positions made a great point about how he excelled in chaotic situations. He’d only go horizontal until that seam opened, then it was full gear towards the end zone. Realistically, a bunch of guys could be doing exactly what they’re supposed to do, but he’d spot that guy who lost his lane and then it was a sprint.

Side to side? Yeah, you can get an angle before he hits the sideline. But good luck making a play on a guy running at you who can cut on a dime (see punter in clip 2).

I loved playing NE in the OB, or anywhere for that matter. Thanks for the memory fix. McGuire was golden in the one back offense.

I remember being nervous about that game because everyone was rooting for US and that just wasn't right. Was Darrin Smith our LB that covered Houston's fastest WR? I remember thier HC saying he knew they were in trouble when our LB did that.

So We have a new mod

In 2010 Hankerson went for 145 on 3 Rec and a Tub. The most underrated WR in canes history. #countdown

I think it was Armstead running with the guy, but they could all move. That was a scary group of LBs to be up against.

Duke Johnson was another in our great lineage of RBs. His freshman year was something special and he certainly lived up to his 5 star ranking during his career.

Keep them coming Legacy. You've come like a super hero to save this place....
