Miami has picked up another defensive back through the transfer portal.

On Tuesday afternoon, Former Auburn and Houston defensive back Keiontee Scott committed to the Miami Hurricanes. He will come to Coral Gables with one more year of eligibility after playing three seasons with Auburn.

Scott moved to Auburn from Snow College, a JUCO college, in 2022 and quickly made an impact in the Tigers' secondary. Over three seasons with the Tigers, he racked up 118 total tackles, defended 8 passes, made 1 interception, and scored 1 touchdown on a return.

This past season with the Tigers, his playing time went down, and his stats dropped due to injuries and more competition for spots, resulting in a career-low of just 18 tackles last season.

The 6-foot, 192-pound San Diego, CA native was also the SEC’s leading punt returner in 2023.

Miami has stacked up on defensive backs in the offseason. He is the sixth defensive back to commit to the ‘Canes from the transfer portal.

Welcome to the family.

Meh

Another guy we hope plays like he did multiple seasons ago.

When you land a corner and you have to mention "led the SEC in PR average two years ago", you're reaching for a compliment.
With all the people we brought in and the ones that remained, a couple of these guys have to pan out right?

The two most disappointing positions have been WR/DB. We have brought in so many four stars and none have really lived up to their ranking (I know we’ve had some success like Kitchens but I’m talking about a first round talent like Bama, Georgia, and OSU have had).

Emanuel Karnleys replacement? Wouldn’t expect much unless we have a bunch of injuries. He can field punts which is a plus

He's been a very good nickel CB. Made some all-SEC teams playing that role.

He struggled as an outside CB in 2024.

We need a true nickel, so he's a good pickup for what our defense lacks

Welcome to the U and good luck … maybe he can help on special teams with returns as well
