D$ SoFla Watch List (Offense)

I’m putting together the annual South Florida position lists, but rather than just list guys, I wanted to highlight a few three-star and unranked kids that I personally believe can develop into players.

Cristobal is a big-game hunter and we need to recruit nationally to win championships. But I hope we are giving the local kids close and careful evaluations. We need to improve the batting average with future NFL players.

This is technically an offensive list although many of these guys project well on both ends. The defensive list is here.

Micah Mays, ATH, Benjamin (6’2, 175)- Long athlete with strides who can play WR or CB. State champ in 400 (47.52) and triple jump (14.01m) and third in high jump (1.87m). Also plays basketball. Father played QB at Grambling. Wake Forest pulled All-ACC receiver AT Perry from Palm Beach and Mays has some similarities. I would love to see what he could do at DB, like former Benjamin two-way star Kaiir Elam. Offers from Wake, NC State and Georgia Tech.

Darrell Sweeting, ATH, Benjamin (6’1, 180)- Mays’s teammate is another athlete with size and two-way ability. Plays WR, CB and returns. Wiry strong with the ability to win at catchpoint and break tackles after the catch. Flashes physicality and lower-body explosiveness. Solid track performer (11.16 100M and school-record 6.98m long jump). Not as good on the track as Mays, but is better and more coordinated on the basketball court. He’s listed on offense here but I like him best at DB. Unranked and very underrated.

Chris Johnson, Jr., ATH, 5’11, 180 (Dillard)- Elite speedster who won state championship in 100M (10.45) and the 200M (20.78). Not related to the former Titans star. Blew up with SEC and ACC offers after his spring track performance. Originally committed to Rutgers. Plays mostly RB with some WR. Similar profile coming out to Rasheem Mostert (New Smyrna Beach, FL). And sorry if I sound like a broken record, but Johnson is another HS offensive kid who may have the highest upside at corner.

Jamari Haynes, WR, 5’9, 170 (Plantation)- If you’re looking for the next Hollywood Brown to come out of Broward, this is a good place to start. Electric playmaker who can change the scoreboard on bubbles, deep balls and returns. Scored three times on special teams and had 892 yards (18.6 ypc) and 9 TDs on offense. While he has legit track speed (10.78 100M, 22.14 200M), he is also a natural WR who can sink his hips and track the ball. Unranked but just picked up an Illinois offer.

Derrick Bohler, WR, 6’2, 195 (Palmetto)- Big-bodied transfer from San Antonio. Resembles Brandon Innis in both appearance and play style. Focused route runner. Competes hard as a blocker and plays coverage units. Utah and Michigan recently offered.

DeAndre Duffus and William Larkins, OL (Chaminade)- When @Goulds Cane bumps my old SoFla position threads, it is striking how many local OL signed with P5 schools and failed over the past few years. But I’m betting on these two to break the mold because they were coached by Prop Joe himself, @gogeta4. Duffus (6’4, 330) is a powerful finisher who does not back down. Surprisingly effective as puller and even played some HBack. NC State has offered. Larkins (6’4, 300) is a tall, athletic center prospect who really emerged in the state title game and the camp circuit. His brother, Claude, plays DL for NC State. Currently committed to Indiana. There is a third Chaminade OL named Elvin Harris (6’6, 320) who also has P5 talent.

Gemari Sands, RB, 6’, 190 (St. Thomas Aquinas)- Well-rounded back with gliding running style. Explosive in limited role (14.3 ypc). Performed well as a receiver on camp circuit. Broke out against a Gibbons defense loaded with FBS players. Also returns kicks. Just received his first offer from FAU.

Tastean Reddicks, WR, 6’, 175 (Dillard)- We’ve been talking track times, but this guy is a pure receiver. Technician who gets off the line fast and finds the football before his defender. Deerfield Beach transfer. Balanced and coordinated. 4.5 GPA. Also somehow unranked.

Adam Moore, TE, 6’2, 220 (Northwestern)- Matchup nightmare. Highly productive as outside WR last year with 895 yards at 20 ypc. Runs after the catch with balance and strength. Averages a double-double in hoops and led his team in blocks and steals. Miami has signed players in a similar mold like Kahlil Brantley and Larry Hodges, but Moore is the most talented version.

Haynes deserves an offer. If his QB was better he'd prob have 8 more TDs. That's the speed we miss

Diamond in the ruff with the last name Mays? Pass *flashbacks* LMAO

I like Bohler also!!

Chris Johnson Jr is the kid on that list that I think blows up by end of Summer. (meaning goes from unranked to a top 250 kid) Mario needs to keep an eye on him. Any local kid who wins the 100M and 200M at states AND plays football to boot always needs to be on UMs radar. No questions asked. We should have learned our lesson from past with that profile.

When you have Jalen Brown, Robby and Ray Ray locally as well its going to be tough to crack that group. But if there are Hollywood Brown comparisons then he needs to be on the radar.

No reason we should be slow af going forward.. LOTS of speed down here and we should turn the roster over with game breakers.. We need to strike the fear in opposing teams hearts where one misstep and its strike up the band..

@DMoney - not a South Florida kid but definitely under the radar - Emory Williams will commit to a program next week. Any chance it is UM and we take his commitment? I know we are waiting for some big fish QBs but he is also a talented prospect.

Another prospect I would add to the list is Richard Dandridge out of Homestead, he’s another Slot-back speedster with a 46’2 in the Triple Jump & 44.29 in 300m hurdles. Fast kid with quick feet & is an actually pretty good route runner for South FL standards, he’s not just a 9 route kid. He’s super shifty & has quick feet weaving through traffic.
It's crazy, he was the last cut from my list and I got a text from @Geo305 about him this morning.

This was my write up on him at the Immortals tryout:

- Richard Dandridge of Homestead is a smooth operator on both ends. Very coordinated, can change speeds and is a matchup nightmare out of the slot. Does not have elite speed but is a true athlete. He had several big catches and picks.

I have a left field question @DMoney . Your write ups are famous, as are Geta’s Prop Joe posts. We have LCE and Geo and even Macho dropping names. Lots of other competent posters too.

My question— do these names get looked at by the staff? Is there some crowd-sourced list of recruits that the staff will make a genuine effort at evaluating? Or is this just for board discussion?

Just for board discussion. I'll send guys to people but they are usually on top of names, even if they disagree. Last guy I sent that we ended up signing was Berrios a long time ago.

Miami Central has a sleeper wr to thats a small slot type. Hes flying under the radar last name Washington i believe. Kid houses sh*t on specials.
Corey Washington. I like him best as a returner, he's a strong, fast, short guy.

DMoney 2 things, do we have a list of the wr that have been offered. Second thing, just a gut feeling by me but our staff must be pretty dam confident at who were getting at the wr position because we haven't seen any new offers going out to wr's. Whats your thoughts on that.

Homestead receiver Javon Robinson should be on this list. 1000 receiving yards and 17 TDs last year at Killian. He's small (5'9 160) and an average athlete which is decimating his buzz. Has FAU, FIU, UT-Martin, Morehouse offers.
