CanesInSight Live 10/6: Bye Week Progress Report and the a potential HC breakdown

Saw first half live then had to go to bed for work. Was a great show. Will watch the rest over the weekend. Kudos hosts🤙

Just finished watching this. Great series. I liked the guy who said at the end that Chris Petersen is a guy Miami should really go after. He is retired, but as the guy said, if you were able to poach his old athletic director from Boise away from his current job at Minnesota, Mark Doyle, that might do the trick to bring him out of retirement. I'd take Urban as well. Bill o Brien could work too. Obviously, Mario makes the most sense but M.I.A.M.I. (money is a major issue).

I thought Lashlee was as much to blame for the 1st half as anyone. Most of the pass plays in the 1st half were short to one side of the field and mainly the right side which made it easier for the defense. UVA was able to play tight defense and load the box in the 1st half as they were not threatened. TVD looked a little shaken in the 1st half, but settled in the 2nd half. The play calling in the 2nd half opened up with deeper throws stretching the defense.

Let TVD use his tools. Stretch the defense and make it easier for the running game.

We have guys that can play LB. They're just not playing. I'd like to see Chase Smith and Austin-Cave Two of the most athletic LBs on the team that can run and make plays.

I just can't understand sending the same guys out there at LB and expecting a different result. The definition of insanity.

Everyone wants Manny gone and I'm one of them. However, just firing Manny doesn't solve the problem. Blake James has put us in an impossible position by giving this 1st time head coach a ridiculous 5 year contract at salary that isn't justified. The 1st question is whether they can put together the money to pay off Diaz and pay a difference maker. Otherwise, it's just going to be a rinse repeat of the last decade of either an up and coming DC or OC as a HC or a G5 coach moving up to P5.

Petersen has a special needs kid and the Seattle area is one of the best to offer care for his condition. At least that was the rational why he went to UW in the first place. Don’t see him making that move.

Sick of this idea of " Miami guy " being an asset to how a coach is evaluated. It's nonsense and has zero bearing on their ability to properly coach here. Just find someone qualified with experience bringing toughness and accountability to a locker room.

Luigi is my choice primarily because of recruiting. The university will have to pony up and pay for quality assistants or it’s another experiment that will fail.

Outdated information. His youngest son, Sam, is a 22-year-old college senior. That was the case a decade ago not now.

After Coach Richt, idk if getting a coach to come out of retirement is the answer. If he retired, it has to be for a good reason. I'd rather go after someone talented, middle aged and hungry.

Why isn’t the audio of this uploaded to the podcast channel?

Or it could be Urban Meyer from Florida to OSU. Petersen has had a few years to recharge. Unlike Richt who went right from Georgia to Miami and never recharged.

That's true, let's hope that's the case. I'm just thinking a retired guy doesn't want or need the pressure cooker of coaching UM. He's never had the type pressure he'll see in Coral Gables....Washington job vs Miami job pressure are not even on the same continent. That being said, would love to have Petersen, I think he'd do well

The one thing I think could have helped Manny this season since he was trying to push the right buttons but failed at hiring a competent DC would have been to pluck the DC from San Diego St.

That guy can coach defense and I know I mentioned it back when the speculation was around that we were looking for one
