With Miami's 2026 O-Line class being nearly all but wrapped up in the coming weeks, the staff is looking to make some similar splashes on the other side of the trenches. One of those D-line prospects may well end up being Hoover, Ala. prospect Tyson Bacon, a 6'3, 263-pound lineman who Miami is pushing hard for. Extremely respectful and well-spoken, he spoke to myself and @DMoney after his visit this weekend. This is a battle between Miami, Tennessee, Florida and Alabama, and the 'Canes have put themselves in a good spot here. Read what he had to say below:
On how Miami stood out this weekend:
“What they did was they really put out how transparent they were, how they wanted me, where they wanted me, and just what they would do to get me. So that really just set the standard on, like when I go to the other schools, what I'm looking for. It’s just the standard.”
“Like, as soon as I walked in I had the whole staff right there just so and making sure I'm good. They show you about the nutrition and just how they wanna develop me on and off the field.”
On where he’s at in his recruiting process:
“So my next visits are Alabama and Ohio State, those would be my next two. And then after that, that's when I'll be ready and I'll have a set date when I want to commit. And other than that, you know, we just grinding.”
On where the staff sees him:
“So they like how versatile I am. So I'll be with [Coach Lewis] one day and I'll be with [Coach Taylor] the others. I can still rush off the edge where I can go inside and play 3 Tech and still dominate.”
“Yeah, so I'll be at that combo end. Playing three technique and still being able to rush off on the five, still causing havoc on the edge, on inside, wherever I go.”
“If you watch my film, you can see me make some plays at end, you'll see some plays at three. You might even see me in zero.”
On how impressive the D-Line staff is at Miami:
“I mean you can't beat it. It's like two Hall of Famers, coach Lewis played here, so you know he's not going anywhere. And [coach Taylor], he has a gold jacket and he played for the Miami Dolphins for about 10 years. I mean, that's just legendary right there, that's very hard to beat, and you just know it’s stable, and that's what we need nowadays, with the transfer portal going on.”
On trying to be recruited by Miami LB commit Jordan Campbell:
“Man, that's crazy. Like I got a good linebacker, I'll open up the hole for him, and he just kill everything. I do my job so that he can shine. And I mean that's really what teamwork is all about.”
