2022 QB Haggard shines at Miami Immortals 7v7, outlines recruitment

2022 Gulliver Prep (FL) 3-star QB Carson Haggard was one of the top performers out at the Miami Immortals 7v7 tryout last weekend and took some time to speak on how he was spinning the ball at the event.

“I thought I performed pretty good, I thought the best thing was I was pretty accurate, didn’t miss many throws,” Haggard said. “I had a couple bad balls, but that happens. I think, overall, I was consistent and put the ball where the receivers could get it.”

The 5-10 155 pound prospect showed off a strong connection with 2023 4-star WR Jalen Brown during the event, linking up on a few deep balls, something that is no surprise for the two teammates.

“My guy Jalen, throwing to him, you have to make sure you’re early because he’s a speedster,” Haggard said.

In the recruiting world, Haggard has earned early offers from Southern Miss and William & Mary, and is currently in contact with Florida State, Tulane, and Columbia. When the NCAA dead period ends this April, he hopes to take some visits and familiarize himself more with a few campuses.

“Before the shutdowns, I was able to visit a couple schools, but since then, it’s been kind of difficult to go anywhere,” Haggard said. “Hopefully I’ll be able to visit some places soon.”

While the Gulliver Prep star has not yet heard from the local Miami Hurricanes, Haggard admits that he would love to build a relationship with the UM staff.

“That would definitely be a dream offer because that’s my hometown school, so that would definitely be something I would look forward to and try to earn in the future,” he said.

Until then, Haggard is laser-focused on improving his game and making his final year of high school something to be seen. As a junior in 2020, Haggard completed 54% of his passes for 1,103 yards, 15 TD’s and 4 INT’s in 6 games played.

“I’m trying to build my offer list a little bit more and have a great senior season to try and get as many offers as I can,” Haggard said. “My goals are definitely to keep building up my body, keep getting bigger and stronger. But also just working on my speed, my technique as a quarterback. Just keep improving as best as I can.”

When it does come time to make his decision, Haggard already has an idea of what he will be looking for in a program.

“Definitely a school that makes me feel like it’s home, and just somewhere that I’m comfortable at. Not just as a football background, but as an environment.”

I saw a video of him on Twitter throwing to Tyreek Hill, he's got zip on his short to medium throws. But he's tiny and his deep ball just kinda stays in the clouds.

He isn't a UM-level recruit but he should go to a air raid/veer and shoot team to get his passing numbers up and get a shot at the league.

Only knock on this kid is size. If he was 6'2 or 3 and 185-200 he'd be considered a top prospect.

So even if we do offer legitimately we have no chance. Not worth the eval then
I just mentioned because of what he said about dream offer. Think he was just saying what he thinks he should. FSU would be this kid's dream offer. I doubt kid has size to play at UM or FSU.

What's with this class and all the FSU connections, I don't like that

Isn’t he the same height as Deriq?

McKenzie Milton says hi.

Son of the one of the bigger FSU boosters in Miami. Think his father is on FSU board of trustees or was.

If I'm not mistaken this kid's parents have a street by doak stadium named after them. The kid is all fsu if he gets the chance.

Nothing to see here. Let's move on
