2021 TE Greenwald Discusses Top 8

2021 3-star TE Gunnar Greenwald from Satellite Beach, Florida put out a top 8 team list last week consisting of Miami, Indiana, UCLA, UCF, USF, NC State, Purdue, and Louisville.

“I’m very excited for this. I’m looking forward to focusing on those 8 schools and making a decision in the future.”

There are many things prospects consider when picking a school, but for Greenwald, what he is looking for is not complicated.

“How they use tight ends and their culture.”

As for Miami, Greenwald is very aware of the tight end tradition.

“It is tight end University! How they use their tight ends in general is awesome and the history they have with successful tight ends is great and the culture they bring to the table with the hype is always awesome.”

Greenwald does not have a personal relationship with any of Miami’s current players, but he is familiar with the tight ends Miami has on the roster.

“I watched Will Mallory and Brevin Jordan’s film. I played 7-on-7 against Brevin when I was a freshman and he was a senior. We’re both from Las Vegas. They’re both great players and I learn a lot from their game.”

Greenwald communicates most with coach Stephen Field and coach Edwin Pata, and the amount of communication is only growing.

“As of now, we’ve just communicated through text, but I’ll be FaceTiming with coach Field this week. They talk about how I would help the offense and we talk about the program.”

Although Greenwald visited last summer, he was unable to make a planned visit to UM this spring; the only schools that Greenwald was able to visit this spring before the lockdown were USF, UCF, and NC State.

“They were all really great. Had fun at all of them.”

When asked about which schools he has the best relationship with, Greenwald mentioned USF, NC State, Louisville, UCLA, and Purdue.

“They all make sure me and my family are doing well and I feel like I really connect with their coaching staff.”

Greenwald is hoping to commit before his senior season starts, but that could be pushed back.

So is Field behind here or has he not been a top target at TE?

Greenwald performed well at Rivals Camp Orlando. Fast forward to 3:25 for Greenwald and Weston Wolff (Miami offer). Strong year in-state.

Same with Jordan potentially NFL bound, there would only be 3 tight ends on the roster. Think you need to keep 5 on the roster at all times.

Two is a must , only way two doesn’t happen is if we ***** something up.

Khalil Brantley projects as a TE, right? So, we're looking to get one more?

The best TE I’ve seen is Elijah Arroyo. Hope we are on him because he seems interested.
Arroyo, Brantley, Michael Trigg, Greenwald & Quentin Moore the Juco kid are my top 5 at TE that we've offered.

I like Miles Campbell too, but I knew a Douglasville GA kid wouldn't seriously consider us.

Arroyo is the best route runner of the group & has the highest upside, we definitely need to be recruiting him heavy.

We taking 2 tight ends this year?
I was thinking the same thing here....transitioning to the spread O I'm thinking 1 TE per year is all we need. However, we know Brevin is declaring and if Mallory has a BIG year then he might go too....only the coaches know what the kids privately express so if that could play a part in why we're taking 2 TEs for 2020.

This kid really moves well for being a big body tight end. He really moves like a wr, a bit slower but hes not slow and stiff.

Ive said it a couple if times on different threads but as a former grad of Satellite high they play against weak competition being independent. My brother was one of his offensive lineman last year and said that he was soft as ****. I saw him play in person and liked his athleticism but he didnt have that dog in him. I hope that im wrong and miami gets a good tight end out of my alma mater but im not impressed at the current moment.

He probably didn't have the green light to commit here, would've liked him but I guess our criteria has gotten tighter which is a good thing to see.
