2017 LB Waynmon Steed to have surgery on a torn ACL.

I wanted you guys to hear it from me first. I appreciate all of the support this season for my son. Steed has played all season with a lingering knee issue and being that he missed his junior season due to a shoulder injury, I assume he didn't want to face the realization that he would have to miss his senior year also. After the first game against Eastridge he tweaked his knee in practice gearing up for Palm Beach. He sat out that game and returned the next week for Killian. Not realizing how serious the injury was, he wore a brace and played through the pain the following weeks, dealing with soreness and continued pain throughout the season. He reinjured it against Norland and Jackson. Well after the season ended I convinced him to get an MRI, and we found out last week that he needed surgery for a torn ACL. He met with coach Richt and coach Diaz and they both convinced him that he is family and they will continue to honor his scholarship. They are eager to get him into rehab and back into action next fall. Another minor setback for a major comeback. My son has been through a lot the last two years but he is in good spirits and he is ready to put in the work that is needed to help put UM where it should be amongst college football's elite programs!!!

Sorry to hear about your son.
Tell him to attack that rehab like he attacks RBs, and he will be alright.
Best of luck to him!

He will be back Fall 2017 but due to him missing spring practice, he may get red shirted. Also it depends on rehab.

Sorry to hear that, I know your son will do his best to heal from this injury!

Sorry to hear.

What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger! Looking forward to see his return wearing the U on the side of his crown. Blessed up!

Wow,tough break.Having gone through 2 acl surgeries myself I know how painful the rehab is.I wonder if this might be the reason we took Wilder and want the former Bama JC commit.

Tell him to keep his head high he is family and we are eagerly awaiting his return

Kid is tough as ****, playing on a torn acl. Thanks for the info. Great to hear that CMR and Co. are gonna honor his scholarship. Right thing to do. Attack the rehab, and he'll be back smashing RB's in no time.

Take that redshirt . It takes close to two years to be back fully 100 %. Just look at Owens, he's finally starting to show flashes again.

Then wreck **** in 2018.

He's going to be a good one , so you guys keep your heads up.

Speedy recovery to your son. Fortunately, torn ACLs aren't what they use to be. And Id rather him rehab, get stronger, and learn the system rather than rushing back too soon. It also makes sense why we are adding another LB. We needed another one anyways, but losing a signee for the year means we need to add another.

I'd hope for a red-shirt his frosh year. Give him time to rehab and not rush getting back.

Can't wait for Steed to hit campus though.

Tell him to work hard and he will be a huge addition to the Canes next year, wish him the best.

They are still most likely done at LB. There will be 11 scholarship LBs on the roster next year.

Yep, take the redshirt. Rushing back and re-tearing would be awful.

He'll be fine. He'll have better rehab care and facilities at The U. Plus the redshirt will have him bettered prepared

Wishing for a healthy, strong recovery.
