2014 DL Moten: "Miami's Fan Base is Crazy"

2014 DL Anthony Moten has already proved himself as one of the top players in South Florida. The High School playoffs begin next week and Moten is looking to help lead his St. Thomas Aquinas squad to a state title.

"We're coming in strong. Everybody is getting it together and getting healthy from injuries. There was a little flu going around the team, but people have gotten healthy. We lost the district championship for a year so that was motivation this year. Now we're on the road to states. Everybody is just going to have to work together and do their job. We have to give 100% every time."

Moten was a name that people knew about coming into the season, but he further proved himself with his play on the field. He feels like there is still room for improvement as well.

"This season I did pretty good. I worked on some of my flaws by getting in the weight room and getting bigger. I still feel like I need to grow up a little more on-and-off the field by becoming more of a leader, but I'll work on that."

The 2014 DL is versatile, as he can play inside at tackle or as an end. There is one position he does like better, even though some college coaches may think differently.

"I played D-End, defensive tackle, and nose guard for a couple of games. I prefer D-End with my pass rush, but I don't take anything from the college coaches. Schools are mostly recruiting me as a D-Tackle. Alabama wants me at D-tackle, Ohio State at D-tackle, Miami at D-tackle, South Carolina at D-end, FSU at D-tackle, and UCF at D-tackle."

Moten is developing good relationships with coaches around the country and says one school is speaking with him more than others.

"I talk to the coaches at Miami more than my other offers, but I really don't have a one, two, or three. I just got off the phone with Coach Franklin from Miami before I called you. I talk to all the college coaches of my offers. Me and Alabama are coming closer together. I've been talking to Coach Stoutland and we are developing a good relationship. He's telling me what Bama wants me to do to deserve an offer."

He expanded on his relationship with the Miami coaching staff.

"I talk to Coach Golden, Coach Franklin, and Coach D'Onofrio. I tell them that all my options are open and that I just don't want to get stuck on one college like I was early in the process. They just tell me they want me as a family member down there and to explore everything down there and spend my next four years there."

The STA product was in attendance for Miami's Thursday night win over Virginia Tech and had rave reviews.

"I went to the V-Tech game. They're (Miami's) fan base is so crazy, like no one left until the clock hit zero. Most games, fans will leave when it's a blowout, but they're fan base is crazy and the team fights till the finish, so I like that about them."

Moten is planning an offseason trip with some of his teammates to one of his top schools.

"I'll be taking a visit to South Carolina after the season. They offered Al Harris, Jr. the other day and they're talking to Madre London and Corey Holmes. We call ourselves the Big 4, so we're trying to maybe take a visit or go to a camp."

Already being one of the top prospects for his class, Moten still isn't afraid to compete at camps.

"I want to get out there and improve myself and get different views from college coaches and see what I need to work on. At the end of the day, I'm just a D-End that goes to St. Thomas. I don't let all the recruiting stuff get to my head."

Or it shows how stupid people sound when they say recruits would never want to play here because of the crowds

**** once he visits an SEC school for a gameday we're out. He's jizzing over our crowds, the second he experiences a legit gameday atmosphere his head is gonna explode.
