2014 DL Blowing Up With Offers

2014 DL Anthony Moten from St. Thomas Aquinas has been high on the ‘Canes for a long time, and almost committed to Miami back in the summer before his parents told him to take his time. Midway through his junior season, he’s happy that he listened to his parents’ advice.

“I do wanna move my decision probably to next year because back then I really wasn’t getting any offers, but my parents were telling me to wait longer because more would come in and they have. When I was a sophomore, I was just wowed by everything and wasn’t used to it. I grew up and now I see how everything is.”

Over the summer, Moten was sitting on four offers, but his play this season has impressed some of the top programs in the country.

“I have UM of course, Florida State offered after the Cypress Bay game, Ohio State after the McArthur game, and then also South Carolina, and UCF also the other day too. It’s crazy to me. The first phone call I actually made was to Corey Holmes and I told him ‘I’m gonna catch you’ because he’s the one with all the offers at my school right now.”

The University of Miami is a school that is near the top of Moten’s list.

“Miami was my first offer and was there before I became big. I always talk with coach Golden and coach D’Onofrio. We talk every Friday or Saturday. Coach Golden just tells me good luck before every game and do what you do best. He called me before the Miramar game and told me ‘I was you were on the plane with us’ and I said ‘I was I was too’.”

There are a couple other programs besides Miami that Moten is taking a hard look at.

“South Carolina is like the next big school I wanna go see. Florida is another school I like and I’ll look at when I get that offer. South Carolina is right up there with Miami for me right now.”

Better player than Bosa IMO, Big time DT.

Saw him play last week. great size and athleticism, but only played about half the snaps and needs to drop some bad weight. He might get there, but I don't see 5-star right now.

Read a Rivals article on Moten today where he claimed South Carolina to be his leader followed by Miami. Also stated that his cousin played at UF and that is his dream school.

Disconcerting.

Quality contribution. How is the Moten family doing? Tell Anthony I send my best

You are close with the family, right? You clearly have the inside info.

We are his #1 school. The fact that other big schools like that are after him is a great thing.

You believe everything you read?

any chance we can have him forego his senior year?

Thanks Peter! We need some difference makers on the DL and Clark came out of the gate fast for a sophomore. Seems like a lot of the DL in high school get by on being big but not in great shape. Again, thanks.

LOL. It will be interesting to see how quickly he grows into his frame to judge how early and at whatposition he can make an impact. I like the idea of DE though DT seems the most logical destination.

I agree with Peter, but he'd be a 4 star with upside in my book.
