Multiple sources say that the Miami program will be sending a group of more than 30 players to Orlando tomorrow night in advance of Hurricane Irma. This is for the remaining group of players who are not staying locally with family or otherwise.

Will the FSU game be postponed? Seems like we won't have any practice time?

Family and safety come first obviously but I don't think it would be a good idea to go to fsu with only like one or two pregame practices.

Nothing about the situation is ideal. But what else can they do?

What does this mean by sending them to Orlando?
Are they being put up in a hotel?

Postpone the game? Miami will get destroyed with only one or two practices before fsu

There is something weird going on here. Why would Blake James agree to cancel the game this week and "keep" the football players in SoFla, but allow the Basketball team and staff to get out of dodge and camp out in Atlanta for the Hurricane? Why wouldn't all sport teams from UM execute the same plan? whether the plan is to stay put or pull chalks to another location where it would be safer.

Some people want to stay with their families locally. You do know how many players we have from S. Florida, right?

Nothing weird about that.

Be in Arkansas playing a game....

As if their heads would be in the game instead of back home worrying about family and friends

Some of the football players did leave the area and/or go home (courtesy of Loyal Cane 24's post in another thread):

Some football players opted to return home, since Saturday’s game at Arkansas State was canceled. Linebackers Shaq Quarterman and Michael Pinckney and safety Derrick Smith, all from Jacksonville, indicated via social media they were heading north. Linebacker Zach McCloud, from Lantana, said he was preparing to “leave Miami.” Wide receiver Lawrence Cager arrived home in Baltimore by Wednesday evening.

Say that the hurricane hits miami... How long would the hurricane last in south florida? When could the team go back to miami to start practice? I agree that safety is way more important but would they even be able to get a practice in before going up to trailorhassee?

These ****ers don't get it. They want their football no matter if grandma is getting washed out to sea.

Do you understand the logistics of probably 100+ UM Players and Staff traveling for football vs 15-20 for basketball?

What are you talking about?

Hey Pete, what do u think is going to happen with practices, the FSU game etc. Will they potentially cancel the game?

I'll trust Blakes judgement. I would assume he made this decision with CMR.

If Miami Dade takes a direct hit from a Category 5 hurricane, there is a better than average chance the FSU game is postponed, moreover we may not play in Hard Rock for a while. I don't think some of you realize precisely how significant a Cat 5 is.

I literally have no idea and neither does anybody else.
